Record Floating Solar Price in Portugal Lifts Outlook in Spain / Reuters
A Spanish renewable energy company, EDPR, has bid a record-low price of about $4.50/MWh to build 70 MW of floating solar power capacity in Portugal.
These new panels will be built alongside existing floating solar infrastructure in a hydroelectric dam’s reservoir (where spare water is stored to balance out periods of low water-flow), and the reservoir will ultimately boast about 154 MW of renewable energy capacity via a combination of floating solar panels and wind turbines (alongside power generated by the dam, itself, which will essentially double that figure).
